Pre-trial confirms Holley’s court date for Tuesday

The trial of former Kent State football safety Nate Holley began Wednesday morning with a pre-trial hearing ahead of his planned Jan. 24 court date.
Holley was arrested Nov. 4 for a first-degree kidnapping charge involving an unnamed female Kent State student. Holley allegedly held the student against her will at the Campus Pointe apartments the night before, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.
On Dec. 31 Holley was given an additional indictment on a second-degree charge of felonious assault. He appeared in court Jan. 10 for the charge.
In the pre-trial hearing, Portage County Court of Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman confirmed with attorneys that Holley’s trial will begin on Tuesday. Attorneys for both Holley and the unnamed student predicted the trial will last at least two days.
Last week, Portage County court records showed that Holley’s attorney, James Eskridge, filed a witness list on his client’s behalf.
According to those same records, the subpoena for the case has been returned and endorsed as of yesterday.
