The Kent State Field House will become a mass vaccination clinic for Portage County, according to an email sent by the university Tuesday.  

Vaccinations will take place every Tuesday starting March 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Portage County Combined General Health District will offer Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson shots and the clinic is open to anyone who lives in Portage County and meets Ohio’s eligibility requirements. 

It is expected that 1,600 shots will be administered per day at each clinic, according to the email. 

Gov. Mike DeWine announced on Tuesday that all Ohioans ages 16 and older will be able to receive a vaccine starting March 29. Ohioans ages 40 and older, and those with serious medical conditions, can receive the vaccine starting March 19. 

University Health Services is now approved as a vaccine provider, but has not been notified if or when it will receive vaccines to administer at DeWeese Health Center, according to the email.

The email also stated the university will be sharing information on spring commencement updates this week.
