University officials are investigating a damaged bench at the May 4 Visitors Center.

A corner panel on the northern end of the granite bench appears to have fallen off, leaving an a piece of the interior exposed.

The memorial is situated between Prentice and Taylor Hall, overlooking the Kent State Commons.

Two KentWired reporters discovered the damage Sunday night and reported it to police.

University Facilities Management workers at the memorial Monday morning could not comment on the cause of the damage.

The Center has declined to comment on the damage.
