Annual Art in the Park festival set for this weekend

Arts, crafts and performances will come together at the 23rd annual Kent Art in the Park Festival in Fred Fuller Park this weekend.
Almost 90 vendors will occupy the park, with two stages set up to host 23 performers throughout the festivities.
Each year, the festival features around 85 to 95 vendors, according to Nancy Pizzino, recreation supervisor for Kent Parks.
“We have the same number of artists as last year; it’s all very exciting,” Pizzino said.
A main component of the festival is the live performances, such as Flash in the Pan, a steel drum group previously directed by late Kent State professor, Ted Rounds.
The festival will also feature homemade foods, and artist vendors.
Special additions this year include a glass blowing demonstration and a youth artist showcase. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the art pieces following the show.
Other atractions will include a Japanese tea ceremony, blacksmith, medieval combat, alpacas and wood carving.
Admission and parking are free.
