The Kent State women’s soccer team won its first conference game of the season 2-1 against the Toledo Rockets Friday.

Senior forward Jenna Hellstrom scored both goals for the Flashes tallying her sixth and seventh of the season.

Junior midfielder Isa Echeverri scored for the Rockets with 12 minutes to go in the first half off a corner kick and Hellstrom answered with a goal two minutes later. The game-winning goal came in the final minutes of the second half.

Kent State improved to 5-1-0 overall. Toledo fell to 5-4-0 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

The Flashes will continue conference play at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Bowling Green.
