Best of Kent: Best Place to Cure a Hangover
April 18, 2016
1st: Mike’s Place
A long night out calls for a greasy breakfast to bring you back to life the next morning. From the cheesy memorabilia on the wall to the extensive menu of options, Mike’s Place has everything to “cure the common hangover.”
Megan Tonkery, a senior fashion major, has a go-to hangover cure of hash browns and a big breakfast.
“Mike’s is a good place because it has something for everyone,” Tonkery said.
Although Mike’s is a Kent State student’s haven on Sunday morning, many other city residents and tourists consider it a hotspot as well.
2nd: Wild Goats Cafe
Looking for somewhere a little more low key to cure that hangover? The Wild Goats Cafe is where you want to go. Serving breakfast all day, you won’t have to get out of bed until noon.
In addition to the all-day breakfast, you can find an assortment of sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs. Manager Justin Rogers thinks the establishment has great food and specials.
“It’s the place to be after three,” Rogers said. “That’s usually the time when we see most of the students come in.”
The restaurant features “Dog Days” on Mondays, “Buck Buck Brinner” on Wednesdays and 42 percent off on Fridays. All deals begin after 3 p.m.
3rd: Taco Tonto’s
After a long night out, enjoy a burrito from Taco Tonto’s. The mixture of rice and tortillas help soak up that leftover alcohol and bring you back to life.
The only downside is having to wait until the restaurant opens at 11 a.m. Brennan Macaluso, a sophomore finance major, said a burrito is the only thing that cures his hangover.“My roommates and I usually get up at 11:30 the next morning (after a long night) and go get burritos, chips and queso,” Macaluso said.
