April 19, 2016
First Place – Wild Goats Cafe
Fresh ingredients, homemade food and a friendly staff is what you’ll get while visiting Wild Goats Cafe.
Flipping through the 24 pages of the cafe’s menu, you’re more than likely to find what you’re looking for, between their omelets, combos, griddle choices and benedicts.
One of their most popular breakfast entrées is the Cheesecake French Toast, which is a slice of homemade cheese cake, lightly battered and griddled, topped with your choice of blueberries, chocolate or caramel.
If that’s not what you’re looking for, you can also build your own omelet, just the way you like.
“I am very much honored and glad we can reach the Kent State area,” Bryant Rogers, a manager of the establishment said.
Second Place – Mike’s Place
Along with holding the title as one of the best places to cure a hangover, Mike’s Place also serves some of the best breakfast, too.
Mike’s has an expansive menu boasting 40 breakfast options. Breakfast is served all day because Mike’s “don’t know when your lazy butts get out of bed,” according to the funny and creative menu.
If you’re looking for a hefty meal to please your hunger and taste buds, try the “Mommy I Have A Tummy Ache & Should Have Eaten At Home Sandwich,” a 12-inch bun stuffed with three eggs, bacon, fries, American cheese, topped with sausage gravy, served with hash browns for only $10.99.
“A lot of people come here for the portion sizes, and I know we get a little hectic, but we do our best,” manager Tobin Rogers said. “It’s always good to see people enjoy the place.”
Third Place – Rise and Shine
If you’re looking for a healthy breakfast at minimal prices, Rise and Shine is one of your best choices. By using the freshest ingredients such as cage-free eggs, organic ingredients and local bread and produce, Rise and Shine offers the best quality for your bucks.
“It’s great and always fills me up,” Jada Hobson, a senior communication studies major, said. “Plus, it’s cheap for college students.”
You can build your own Belgian waffle with up to three toppings, or stick to hot cakes, French toast or traditional breakfast choices.
To keep it really inexpensive but tasty, you can also try their oatmeal, grits, fresh fruit or delicious yogurt parfaits.
