Kent Plaza Theater honors Prince
April 27, 2016
The Kent State Theater is reliving the 80s this weekend in honor of Prince. For two nights students can view Prince’s movie “Purple Rain,” a rock musical drama film where Prince stars as himself.
The film starts at 11:25 p.m. on both days and admission is $5, including a junior-sized popcorn. Seating is limited, so those who wish to attend should arrive early.
Shannon Heisel, head manager at the Kent Plaza Theaters, said that the event is a way to pay tribute to the late singer who passed away in his home on April 21 at the age of 57.
“There’s no better way to pay homage to a musical legend than to get a bunch of his fans together in one place for a special event like this one,” Heisel said.
Heisel said that the movie was released over 30 years ago, so a lot of the younger fans may be seeing it on screen for the first time.
“(It will be) such a special feeling and experience,” Heisel said, adding that the theater has also been trying to play older movies.
Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.goldenstartheaters.com/kent-plaza or at the Kent Plaza Theater box office.
