Kent State’s annual Alumni Day of Service is scheduled for April 16.

“We are extremely excited to engage our alumni and volunteers at over 25 different service sites this year” said Lisa Mascellino, assistant director of Outreach Alumni Relations and head of the Alumni Day of Service.

The Alumni Day of Service first began in 2009 and since then Kent State Alumni have completed a wide range of services for those in need. These services range from building houses and cleaning up hospice centers to serving meals to families and people in shelters.

Since 2009 Kent State Alumni have branched this day of service to eight states and 19 cities. According to the Kent State Alumni Association website, more than a 1,000 volunteers have put in 3,862 hours of volunteer work in order to make that a reality.

Volunteer locations this year include Washington D.C ; Maryland,  New York City; New York and Los Angeles; California as well as many locations in Ohio such as Youngstown, Wooster and Ravenna. 

Local volunteer locations include Haven of Rest, Akron Canton Regional Foodbank, Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland, and Loaves and Fishes, amongst others. 

Registration is still available, but t-shirts are not guaranteed for registration after March 28.
