Kent State University held its semi-annual job and internship career fair in the Student Center Ballroom on Wednesday.

The career fair gave students the opportunity to meet and interact one-on-one with professionals from their desired field. Representatives from 40 companies were present to talk to students about opportunities within their organization.

Students were encouraged to dress professionally and bring resumes to pass out.

Sarah Knepper, talent acquisition specialist for Bearing Distributers Incorporated, thinks the career fair is a opportunity for students to get a glimpse of life after college.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for students to get themselves out there and exposed to potential employers,” Knepper said. “It also provides them with great experience for future interviews.”

Junior communication studies major, Breanna Ganuelas, said she gained insight into what it’s like to find a job.

“The career fair helped with my communication and interview skills,” Ganuelas said. “It exposed me to a lot of different companies and what they do.”

The career fair also had a room set up where students could get professional photos taken to use on their LinkedIn or social media profiles.

This is not the only career fair being held this year. Kent State will be holding its spring career fair on Thursday Feb. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. on the second floor of the Student Center.
