June 18, 2015
Jordan Italiano, a senior safety for the Kent State football team, was named “Smartest Player in College Football” in NFL.com’s 15 for ‘15 series released Tuesday.
Italiano is a pre-med/biochemistry major with a 3.978 GPA going into his fourth year at Kent State. Italiano has made two Academic All-America teams and is one of three Mid-American Conference players to make the squad. Bowling Green linebacker Nate Locke and Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush also made the squad.
While Italiano made the 15 for ’15 smartest player team, Kent State junior wide receiver Ernest Calhoun was recognized on the 15 for ’15 list for smallest players. Calhoun caught 33 passes for the Flashes last season, but finished with just one touchdown.
