School of Music graduate concerts to take place this weekend
May 1, 2015
Graduating students across Kent State’s School of Music will perform in their recitals beginning Friday.
The School of Music requires that performance majors give a junior and senior recital, education majors give a senior recital and graduate students give a recital each year as part of their graduating requirement, said Rachel Balko, a graduate student working on a master’s in music and voice performance.
This year, seven different students will be performing in their preferred musical capacity over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
Balko’s performance, a soprano vocal performance, will take place on Friday night at 7:30.
“I’ll be singing all types of different things,” she said. “There are some Italian, German and French compositions, along with some in English as well.”
The performances this weekend will feature five different types of concerts, from singing to saxophones to flutes. All performances will take place in the Center for the Performing Arts.
