Career Services launches new employment database
May 12, 2015
Career Services launched a new employment database Monday titled Flash @ Work that will replace the existing Experience Job and Internship Board for students to apply for jobs and internships.
Career Services Assistant Director Robin Pijor said another provider bought out the system that powered the Experience Job and Internship Board.
“After researching online recruiting systems, we felt that the system that powers Flash @ Work is much more user-friendly and efficient,” she said. “Plus, we are happy that is provides the same features our students and alumni are used to.”
The biggest difference between the two systems is the ability for students to opt into Career Services’ candidate database so employers are able to search for and find students.
In Flash @ Work, students will still be able to search and apply for jobs and internships, manage their resumes and cover letters, request on-campus interviews, maintain an online personal calendar and RSVP for career events, Pijor said.
She said the two systems have different interfaces that students will be able to become familiar with.
“Flash @ Work definitely has a new look and feel that students will notice,” Pijor said. “The pages are laid out differently and the background colors are more appealing.”
Students log into the system using their Flashline username and password. When students first log in, they will enter basic demographic and academic information to complete their account profile. Students are also required to upload a resume to complete their registration and begin applying for jobs and internships.
Documents from the Experience Job and Internship Board, including resumes and cover letters, were not transferred to the new Flash @ Work system. Although students are no longer able to access the Experience Job and Internship Board, Career Services staff members will be able to retrieve documents in that system until June 30.
Career Services will be offering weekly workshops to go over navigation on the Flash @ Work system.
