Through cocktails, a dinner and a program, Kent State’s Jewish Studies Program will celebrate its 40-year anniversary on Sunday and pay homage to its longest-serving director, Herbert Hochhauser.

The gala, titled “Memories, Milestones, Momentum,” will be held at the Kent State Hotel and Conference Center. Speakers at the program will also honor the late Saul Friedman, a teacher in the program for 20 years.

President Beverly Warren will also speak at the event.

Cocktails will be served at 5 p.m., and the program starts at 6 p.m. Reservations for the event are currently closed.

The Jewish Studies Program was founded in 1975 from a grant provided by the Jewish Services Center, a board composed of members from Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Kent and Youngstown. Current students can take the Jewish Studies minor to learn more about Jewish history, life and culture.
