The Speedbumps

The indie-folk band hailing from Northeast Ohio brings an authentic sound to their music.

Speedbumps’ lead singer and guitarist, Erik Urycki, brings a whim of soul and acoustics to each performance and said that Kent has always been there for them.

“It’s a great feeling to know our hometown is listening and appreciates the music we make,” Urycki said.

The band has been known to play gigs at Bar 145 and The Kent Stage.

“We love playing in Kent, not only because it’s home, but also because the people here are so enthusiastic and supportive,” Urycki said. “It’s so easy for us to feed off that energy. We are lucky to have met each other here. Wouldn’t trade Kent for anywhere.”

You can catch them at Cleveland’s Beachland Ballroom on April 25 for an album release show, promoting their latest album “Soil to the Seed,” set to be out May 5.

Aliver Hall

Bringing Rock ‘n’ Roll back to their hometown, Aliver Hall’s grooves and energy in their sound leaves fans wanting more. Bassist Jim Garibaldi said it’s great to have recognition from the people of Kent.

“It’s a really nice community, and there’s a really great (music) scene here,” Garibaldi said. “We love playing at The Kent Stage, and we love the atmosphere.”

Their sound is unique and influenced by an array of genres. Some influences that all members of the band share include The Smashing Pumpkins, Grateful Dead, Santana, as well as metal music and ‘60s rock.

The band will be playing with Ekoostik Hookah at The Kent Stage on May 2. They will also be playing two shows at the Tribal Connection festival in Pataskala, Ohio, on May 8 and 9.
