Opinion: Having hope through God
April 21, 2015
Have you ever noticed that some people just seem to have that sense of peace and security and even hope in their lives and for their future? Do you wonder where it comes from and how you can obtain that feeling of hope? Many people seem to have the security of knowing who holds their future as well.
Not knowing your future is one of the scariest things about this life, but knowing that God holds your future and that he only wants what is best for you as his child, can give you a sense of peace and hope in your heart that you may have never felt before. Hearing from someone who knows God personally and listening to him or her share his or her own personal stories of having the hope that God gives can also give a person a new lease on life. Sharing the gift of salvation, our personal faith stories and the hope that people can have through knowing God and having him in their heart and in their lives is one of the greatest gifts to give.
Hope can be the feeling of knowing that you did something right or feeling peace in your heart from making a difficult decision, as most decisions can be very difficult. Hope can also be the feeling of giving encouragement to someone else who is going through something in his or her life. Everyone has times where storms invade their lives. The important thing to remember is that we can have hope through knowing God and turning to him in times of great abundance, but especially turning to him when any events in our lives trouble us.
Hope can also be found through God by putting your fear aside and trusting that he will work for your good and everyone else’s. God will always give you the hope to persevere through anything in your life; all you have to do is say a simple prayer such as:
“God, I know my life isn’t perfect, but I know you are. I know the day or week isn’t going exactly the way I want it to, but I’m trusting you to do your will in my life. I’m turning my life over to you once again, make me more like you in every way, so I can have the hope that only you can bring, Amen.”
God wants all of his children to have hope in their lives and peace in their hearts. He wants to be able to give us that hope only he can provide. All we have to do is ask and believe in his promises fully, and we can start to feel the hope he instills in us. Hope isn’t the easiest thing to always keep in our hearts though with this life though.
Many times we may feel hopeless and afraid. When we are feeling hopeless in any given situation is when we need the hope from God the most. You may feel as though you may not know what to do or how to fix a situation or even how to go on in life, but God gently whispers, “My child, I’m here for you, just call on me and be still.”
He is the hope we all need every second of every day. Sharing the hope that you have in your heart can literally save someone’s life, not just change his or her perspective on life, so don’t be afraid to tell others about the hope in your life.
