The Kent African Student Association (KASA) will hold its 20th annual “African Night” at 7 p.m. March 13 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.

“African Night” is funded by the University Student Government and will have various ethnic appetizers from different regions of Africa, with dancing and singing performances through the night.

Anilson Cardoso, president of KASA, said that it will be different from previous years.

Cardoso said that there will be a fashion show that will be participated by the audience, not fashion designers. KASA sent emails asking if anyone was interested in modeling in any clothing they had that showed African culture.

“It’s our major event,” Cardoso said. “It’s our 20th anniversary. It is to have African culture presented. It’s like a showcase of culture.”

There will also be a challenge based on African cultural activities.

Cardoso said that the message that KASA wants everyone to leave with is for people to have a better understanding of African culture.

Admission is free and anyone is more than welcome to participate in this event. An after-party at Kent Lanes will follow the event at 10 p.m.
