BUS hopes to conclude Black History Month with unity

Black United Students encourages all to congregate and celebrate the last days of Black History Month Thursday on the Risman Plaza.
BUS will hold a “Unity Circle” on the Risman Plaza “K” at 5 p.m., with keynote speaker Steve Perry speaking at 7 p.m. in the Kiva.
“The purpose of the Unity Circle is to end Black History Month on a positive and unified standpoint,” freshman fashion merchandising major and member of BUS Emonte Wimbush said.
During the Unity Circle a member from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will open with a brief speech. Students will recite the Black National Anthem and sing “This Little Light of Mine.”
The Unity Circle will close with the Lord’s Prayer and closing remarks from a BUS member.
Following the circle will be a speech from Steve Perry titled “Not Yo Mama’s Classroom: The Truth About Education.”
