Junior William Barnes had an excellent performance this past weekend in the Armory Invitational, one good enough to earn him Mid-American Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors.

Barnes started in the Friday preliminary heats by winning his heat in the 60-meter event with a time of 7.91 seconds. He backed that performance up with a third-place finish in the semifinals later that evening.

This run was good enough to put him into the finals on Saturday.

Barnes did come out strong for the finals, but it wasn’t enough to earn him a victory. He ended up finishing second in the final race with a time of 7.78 seconds.

Barnes had an impressive weekend and hopes to continue that success as the team is back in action on Friday when they split up for the Akron Invitational in Akron and Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.
