Recently released 15^th day statistics indicate more freshmen are continuing to study at Kent State from fall to spring semester, using freshman persistence as a measuring stick.

Freshman persistence, which measures how many first-time, full-time students pursue their studies from fall to spring, is up to 94.3 percent at the main campus. At this point last spring semester, freshman persistence leveled off at 93.7 percent.

Meanwhile, enrollment grew with more than 500 students at the Kent campus, but the entire eight-campus system saw an overall enrollment decrease. Enrollment fell 8 percent on the regional campuses.

“The enrollment strategy to build on quality is continuing to bode well for Kent State as the spring enrollment figures for the Kent Campus are up for 2015,” David Garcia, Kent State’s associate vice president for enrollment management, in a university press release. 

The statistics also showed enrollment in online courses increased, as did enrollment from international students in the eight-campus system.

“The efforts of faculty, staff and the administration are key to the success of enrollment growth,” Garcia said.
