The Kent Police Department is looking for information about who threw a Molotov cocktail underneath a parked cruiser at 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 29.

A sergeant stomped out the flames when he noticed them after walking out of the station.

“We don’t know exactly why someone would do this,” Lt. James Prusha said. “It’s coming at the same time as the rest of the ‘I hate the police’ movement so it probably has something to do with that, but we don’t have a definite motive.”

Prusha said the damage to the cruiser was cosmetic with only char marks on the underside of the vehicle, so it required no repairs.

“So far we don’t have any leads but any clues someone might have would be appreciated,” Prusha said.
