The men’s and women’s track and field team completed day one of the Gladstein Invitational on a high note Friday in Indiana.

For the men, junior William Barnes advanced to the finals on Saturday after he won the preliminary 60-meter hurdle event with a time of 7.85 seconds.

Senior Miles Dunlap also advanced to the finals with a win in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.93 seconds.

Junior Jailyn Twitty won the triple jump by jumping a distance of 14.93 meters.

For the women, sophomore Jorian Ordway beat out more than 34 other competitors to win the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 56.35 seconds. Her time was more than one second faster than the second place finisher, who clocked in at 57. 41 seconds.

Freshman Sam Tollerud and sophomore Morgan Estes respectively finished second and third in the pole vault event with a mark of 3.86 meters.

In the triple jump event, junior Tinuke Aderemi-Ibitola placed second with a jump of 12.20 meters. Fellow junior Lakia Kent-Allen also had a strong performance in the event. She finished fifth with a mark of 11.58 meters.

The teams will look to further their day one performances Saturday for the final day of the invitational.
