Sculptor John Raimondi creates his work on a scale larger than life. Known for his monumental public sculptures, some reaching more than 60 feet tall, the Florida artist will visit Kent State on Thursday, Oct. 9 as a part of the Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series.

Raimondi will describe the process in which he creates his mammoth bronze – and sometimes steel – sculptures in his “Evolution of Monumental Sculptures” lecture, which will be held in the School of Art Gallery on the second floor of the Art Building at 7:30 p.m.

“It will be a really nice chance to hear him and get some conversations going,” director at the School of Art Christine Havice said.

A reception will follow the lecture, and both are free and open to the public.

Raimondi is the first speaker in the Schroth series this semester and will be followed by visual artist Nick Cave in November.
