Haunted adventures and fall favorites
October 21, 2014
If you’re looking for haunted houses and other Halloween activities in the coming weekends, Northeast Ohio has plenty. We’ve rounded up some of the most popular attractions within about a two-hour radius.
Fear Forest, Lordstown
Experience it all in one stop. The Fear Forest includes a haunted house, hayride, “Insane-A-Tarium,” a spinning vortex tunnel and Forbidden Cornfield. It’s open from 7 p.m. to midnight and tickets range from $5 to $30, depending on how many attractions you want to go through.
Spooky Ranch, Cleveland
Based on an actual horse ranch, the Spooky Ranch has five different attractions: the Bloody Mary Haunted House, Crazy 3D Clowns, Forest of Fear haunted hayride, Haunted Barn and Funny Fun House. The Ranch is open from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and from 7 to 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in October. Tickets range from $16 to $20.
Carnival of Horrors, Akron
Blossom Music Center is transformed into four different venues, including a haunted fun house and insane asylum. It’s open from 7:30 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays and from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets range from $17 to $25.
Haunted Prison Experience, Mansfield
The old Ohio State Reformatory closed in 1990 and is now claimed to be a haunted attraction. A traditional haunted house is set up for the holiday, but real hauntings are said to occur there as well. Gates open at 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and tickets range from $18 to $76, if you want to experience the Psychic Dinner Show Halloween weekend.
Hidden Valley Fruit Farm, Lebanon
If you don’t feel like getting spooked but still want to enjoy the fall festivities, the Farm has a corn maze, hayride and pumpkin patch. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and tickets range from $7.50 to $10.
Dussel Farms, Kent
The local farm has a 5-acre corn maze, haunted bus, pumpkin patch and plenty of apple cider, corn and pumpkin pie. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until Oct. 31.
