The Hugh A. Glauser School of Music will showcase two faculty member soloists in its “Storms and Romance” concert Sunday, Nov. 2.

The orchestra concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Cartwright Hall Auditorium and is set to feature assistant professors Amitai Vardi on clarinet and Yu Jin on viola.

“It’s called ‘Storms and Romance’ because all of the pieces either have very deliberate thunderstorm music in them, or they’re very romantic,” concert and orchestra director Charles Latshaw said.

“Storms and Romance” is the second orchestra concert this fall. The orchestra is comprised of Kent State students, with this concert featuring professors Vardi and Jin.

The performance will feature 19th century European music, including Gioachino Rossini’s “William Tell” overture, which was popularized by television show “The Lone Ranger” and film “A Clockwork Orange.”

“It’s a super fun and great piece to begin a program,” Latshaw said.

“Storms and Romance” is free to attend for Kent State students. Adult tickets cost $15, and children’s tickets are $5.

Next week, Latshaw will be conducting in the School of Music’s opera showcase “Singing in Circles” on Nov. 8 and 9.
