Ghosts and vampires will come to life as stories and poems by literature’s scariest authors and poets are told in the main lobby of the University Library on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m.

University Libraries faculty and staff members will read Halloween stories such as “The Masque of the Red Death” by Edgar Allan Poe and poems that include “The Vampire” by Conrad Aiken at the Halloween edition of Kent Reads. 

“There’s a very long tradition of Halloween at Kent State, and it predates my arrival here 34 years ago,” said Joy Ann Leavy, a reference service librarian.

Kent Reads is a program that is only a few years old, and this is the first Halloween edition said Leavy. 

Leavy hopes that the library will continue the tradition every year and would like to expand who reads in the future to other faculty members outside the library.
