BSR Beats: Sick Chicks
September 30, 2014
Anyone who knows my taste of music knows it takes a lot for me to step out of my break-down infused comfort zone. Every once in a while I like to break away from the norm, dance around and sing along with these insane female vocalists.
Iggy Azalea – “Lady Patra”Oh Iggy, my guiltiest pleasure. This song is a typical blast in the car song. In other words, when this song comes on my friends act like they don’t know me. If you are familiar with her single “Work” or any other fantastic hit off of The New Classic, make this song your next go to. |

Lana Del Rey – “Blue Jeans”I remember I first fell in love with Lana after listening to this song. Not only is her voice incredible and overwhelming, her lyrics are very comforting. Her technique is very soothing and soulful, which makes this song such an easy and relaxing listen for me. If you’re a fan of “Summertime Sadness” (the non-radio version) then you’ll like this one just as much, if not more. |
|
Hayley Williams (Paramore) – “Emergency”Let’s all dig deep down into the Paramore roots for this throwback. The first time I saw them live, they played this song and I instantly wanted to be Hayley. For a girl’s voice, it has some serious edge that I absolutely love. If you can take a step back from Paramore’s newer sound, dive into this song. |

Ellie Goulding – “Anything Could Happen”Upon first discovery of Ellie Goulding, I was blown away. It takes a lot for me to listen to the radio and actually enjoy it, but her sound was an exception and made it pretty easy. I’m a big fan of faintly hearing her accent throughout this song, and that’s what makes it a song I could listen to multiple times in a row. |

Krysta Cameron (Iwrestledabearonce)- “Danger In the Manger”This song clearly hits base for me with its pure hardcore nastiness. Former front lady, Krysta Cameron, put some boys to shame with her nasty vocals. If I ever aspired to be in a band and blow peoples’ minds, I’d ask her for vocal lessons and training. She’s a mastermind and this song will forever be one of my favorites. |
