The 33rd Annual Black Squirrel Festival will be held Friday from noon to 6 p.m. on the Student Green and Risman Plaza.

Unique to Kent State, the festival will showcase between 100 and 150 vendors, including local businesses, University departments and campus clubs.

The festival is similar to Blastoff, but it is “more of a leisurely” festival, allowing them to spend more time with vendors, Jennifer Gunnoe, Assistant Director of the Center for Student Involvement, said.

Among the vendors, there will be activities and free promotions at the festival. These include a free photo booth, a rock wall, a caricature artist, inflatables and the movie Malificent shown on the stage. Students can bring blankets and lawn chairs if they plan to watch the movie.

The festival will include free t-shirts for the first 2,000 students, the last day the poster sale will be in effect and more.

“We want students to be able to take advantage of the things that are free to them,” Gunnoe said.

Festival visitors should be advised that if bad weather occurs Friday, the vendors will be moved to the Ballroom, and the movie will be moved into the Kiva.
