Teen Vogue back-to-school trunk party at Rockwell Hall Saturday
August 28, 2014
Two Kent State student representatives will host a trunk party provided by Teen Vogue this Saturday from 6-8 p.m. in the atrium of Rockwell Hall.
Every August, Teen Vogue Beauty and Health Director Elaine Welteroth lists every must-have for teens and provides a contest to see what girls could be considered representatives for colleges.
Sophomore fashion merchandising major Tabitha Commisso sent her information and resume to Teen Vogue for a chance to participate. Little did she know another representative from Kent State, fashion merchandising major Bethany Vargo, also entered the contest.
“I applied this summer to be the Teen Vogue Representative and late in the summer I received an email from the Freelance Events Assistant of Teen Vogue telling me I was selected,” Vargo said.
The two came together to create one big event on campus.
“When Bethany and I found out we were both selected from the same school, we got in contact with each other and got permission from Teen Vogue to host our parties together,” Commisso said.
The competition now is to create social media buzz using the hashtag #BTSS, which stands for Back-to-School Saturdays, to win the grand prize from Teen Vogue.
“Myself and Tabitha both received trunks from Teen Vogue that contain freebies from brands,” Vargo said. The free items given out will be from brands like Delia’s, Vera Bradley, Kate Spade Saturday, Almay and Revlon. There will be raffles for the items throughout the day.
“We are planning crafts to get in the school spirit, which will be announced at the event,” Vargo said. There will also be a woman doing makeup with the products from the trunks to promote the brands.
Use the hashtag #BTSS when using Twitter and Instagram at the event to promote the products and to let Kent State have a chance at winning the grand prize.
“For both of us, this position will help expand our resume and look great having this experience in planning the event and expanding our leadership skill,” Vargo said.
