Kent State was named one of this year’s “Great Colleges to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education, a national publication for college and university faculty members and administrators.

The seventh annual list, which was announced Monday, includes 92 universities around the nation. The results come from a survey of more than 43,000 employees at 278 colleges and universities, and an institutional audit that explored demographics and workplace policies. Kent State, in the large universities with 10,000 or more students category, is the only Ohio university on the list and was recognized for its compensation and benefits.

This is the fourth time in five years Kent State has made the list.

Kent State employs 1,206 administrators or exempt professionals, 1,045 full-time faculty, 841 adjunct or part-time faculty and 887 full-time non-exempt staff, according to The Chronicle’s website. The turnover rate for both faculty and other staff is seven percent. 

The average annual salary for administrators is $94,319; for exempt professionals, $52,978; for full-time faculty, $75,398; and for adjunct or part-time faculty, between $2,001 and $4,000 per three credit hour course, also according to the Chronicle’s website.
