Lil’ Sibs Weekend will start this Friday and last until Sunday, April 27.

Christine Francisco, Kent Interhall Council president and senior technology major, encourages all students to attend and said the event is free, but attendees must sign in for safety reasons.

“Since there are so many minors on campus, we will have a master list of contacts for everyone in case something were to go wrong,” Francisco said.

Along with safety, Francisco said sign-ups are required so KIC knows how many people to expect at certain events.

“This year, we have two magician shows,” she said. “In past years, attendance has been so high that we’ve filled the ballroom. We had to plan according to this and now have the same magician doing two shows.”

Some of the other events taking place during Lil’ Sibs Weekend include bingo, inflatables and face painting.

Francisco said the event gives younger siblings and other people a chance to experience the college atmosphere.

“My brother likes coming; it’s like a little vacation for him,” she said. “It’s a unique experience for younger siblings to experience a college campus.”

Kyle Hovest, chair of Lil’ Sibs Weekend and KIC vice president of programming and development, said the event was planned specifically for everyone to enjoy.

“Lil’ Sibs Weekend has been such a joy to plan, and I know anyone who takes part in it will enjoy it,” Hovest said.

Elizabeth Ohlin, hall council adviser for Korb Hall, said the event is nothing like the other events that are held on campus.

“It’s not often the campus is open to children,” Ohlin said. “It’s a fun weekend to spend time with family and friends.”
