Update: Power plant costing upward of 2 million
January 13, 2014
After catching fire in September, the Kent State power plant has seen repairs costing around 2 million dollars.
Tom Euclide, associate vice president of facilities planning and operations, said while the turbine was repaired and replaced other parts are still being worked on.
“We are now trying to determine if there was damage to the heating,” Euclide said, who is working with a number of contractors to get repairs finished.
Euclide said the pieces in the power plant are custom to this machine and are taking a bit longer to fix because they cannot simply be ordered.
While lost revenue cannot be determined at this time, Euclide said repairs are looking to be completely finished in the late spring.
