After being named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week, Kent State junior Caleb Marsh and the No. 25 ranked Kent State Flashes wrestling team will take on North Carolina State this Sunday afternoon.

The honor of Wrestler of the Week was named to Marsh after his undefeated (4-0) weekend at the Virginia Duals this past weekend. Of those four wins, two of them were against higher ranked opponents and helped secure a fourth place finish for the Flashes in the Duals. Marsh’s performance put him at No. 25 in this week’s Division 1 WrestlingReport.com rankings for his 174-pound weight class.

Marsh will likely face North Carolina State freshman Pete Renda, who sits at No. 17 in the InterMat 174-pound rankings, in Sunday’s match.

The No. 27 ranked Wolfpack Wrestling team also carries ranked wrestlers of junior Tommy Gant (No. 20 in 157-pound class) and sophomore Nick Gwiazdowski. Gwiazdowski is slated at No. 7 in the 285-pound class on Intermat.com and is nationally ranks 5th among all weight classes with eight pins versus Division 1 opponents.

Coming off a debatable call against Virginia Tech, Ian Miller will look to bounce back against the No. 20 ranked Gant Sunday.  Miller is currently ranked 7th among all Division wrestlers in his 157-pound class.

This Sunday’s match also marks the 2nd Annual Beauty and the Beast match at Kent State. With a wrestling match taking place, the Kent State Gymnastics team will rival their North Carolina State counterpart as well.

“It’s a home match, and its great to have all our guys there, especially after an away event where you can only have so many guys,” said Kent State Coach Jim Andrassy about Sunday’s match. “It’s a great event, Beauty and the Beast.”

The wrestling and gymnastics teams of Kent State and NC State will face off at 2 p.m. in the M.A.C Center on Sunday
