Former Kent State employee indicted for pandering sexual material involving a minor
November 16, 2013
A man who worked at Kent State for 26 years was indicted Nov. 7 on 25 counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, court records say.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Jeffrey Berghoff, who worked in the College of Education, Health and Human Services from 1984 to 2010, was released from the county jail Nov. 12. His bond was set at $25,000, according to court documents.
“He worked as a senior business manager,” university spokesman Eric Mansfield said. “Kent State University police conducted the investigation.” Mansfield declined to comment further.
A Kent State police dispatcher said “no one was in” to talk about the investigation.
All 25 counts involved “material that shows a minor participating or engaging in sexual activity, masturbation or bestiality.”
Berghoff was arraigned Tuesday. His trial is scheduled for Jan. 21, 2014.
