Kent City Council unanimously passed an ordinance Wednesday amending Kent Health Department’s housing maintenance code. The code had been mostly unchanged since 1979.

Revisions include updating housing-license fees, pest-control measure and general fire-safety concerns in residence buildings containing three or more rooms. The updated code goes into effect Jan. 1.
