A Mississippi man is accused of mailing letters with the poison ricin in them to President Obama and Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss. The suspect, Paul Kevin Curtis, is charged with threatening the president and other political leaders. His attorney said Curtis says “100 percent that he did not do this.”

Eric Lyle Williams, former Texas justice of the peace, and his wife Kim Williams have both been charged with capital murder in the deaths of Mike McLelland, Kaufman County district attorney, his wife Cynthia McLelland and assistant prosecutor Mark Hasse. Authorities believe that Williams and his wife were seeking revenge by killing McLelland and Hasse, who prosecuted Williams for theft last year. Though they had sought prison time, he was sentenced to probation and lost his law license, thus ending his career as justice of the peace.

Egypt’s lead opposition group says it is preparing to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections later this year. Earlier this year there was a call for a boycott. The National Salvation Front said on Thursday that it will continue to press the ruling Islamic regime to provide guarantees for fair and free elections.

Two men and two women were found shot in the head in the basement of an Akron townhome Thursday. Police said there were no weapons found in the home and the names of the four people, who appeared to be in their 20s, were not released. The townhome was located on Akron’s northeast side.
