The College of Nursing will host its first annual “Race Into Finals” at 9 a.m. May 5. The event, named for the start of finals week, is both a 5,000-meter run and a one-mile fun run.

The proceeds to the event will benefit the Student Nurses Emergency Fund. This is a monetary fund to help support student nurses during times of sudden, unexpected financial emergencies.

Connie Tezie, assistant professor in the College of Nursing, helped put this event together.

“This event is a means to benefit this worthwhile and important fund while promoting health, well-being, self-care, community and fun,” Tezie said.

The price for the 5k is $15, and the price for the one-mile fun run is $10. A tee shirt is included with the adult registration. Children under 12 can run for free; however, a tee shirt must be purchased separately. The race will be held rain or shine and will begin and end at Henderson Hall. The post-race sponsor for the event is Fresco Mexican Grill & Salsa Bar.
