The Native American Student Association is hosting its Spring Intertribal Gathering from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday in the Commons Area outside Oscar Ritchie Hall.

This 12 hour affair will include traditional dance, music, storytellers and vendors with food and dream catchers. The purpose of this event is for students, faculty and staff to earn a better understanding of Native American culture.

Kimberly Kennedy, interim assistant to Vice President Dr. Alfreda Brown and advisor for NASA, said that this event is inviting and educational.

“We did one in the fall and people were really surprised about how warm and welcoming it is to be able to join in the dance event, even if you’re not familiar with [the dances],” she said. “Just seeing the traditional dances and hearing the songs and eating the food — it’s just about bringing everyone together to enjoy this type of an event. Just come and go as you please.”
