Akron PFLAG to visit PRIDE! Kent

PRIDE! Kent will host members of the Akron chapter of PFLAG Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Governance Chambers in the Kent State Student Center.According to pflagakron.org, PFLAG promotes the health and welfare of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer persons and their families and friends through support, education and advocacy.The event will include a panel of people from PFLAG to answer questions and provide information about what it means to be supportive of the LGBTQ community.Brandon Stephens, sophomore criminology and justice studies major and vice president of PRIDE! Kent, acted as the liaison between PRIDE! Kent and Akron PFLAG.“We’re hoping we can strengthen the family bonds in PRIDE! that we try to foster every week,” he said. “We’re also hoping that we can give our members the strength, knowledge and resources to reach out to their own families to foster the growth of those bonds as well.”All those interested are welcome to attend.
