Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said on Sunday he is continuing his investigation on the Steubenville rape case. The two high school football players involved in the rape were found guilty Sunday. DeWine’s continuation of the investigation could involve Steubenville’s head football coach and the owners of the house where the 12-minute cellphone video was filmed of the 16-year-old West Virginia girl being assaulted. The assault occurred at a party in August where the girl was so intoxicated she couldn’t consent to sex.

Day 13 of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster continues with the company’s defense. Defense called a witness for Transocean on Monday. The witness claimed the workers for the company were “trying to get it right,” as they monitored BP’s well before the blast. Transocean is the company that owned the drilling rig that exploded and caused the massive spill and deaths of several workers. Halliburton and BP plan to call their own witnesses after Transocean finishes.

Lindsay Lohan accepted a plea deal on Monday that includes 90 days in a locked-down rehabilitation facility. Lohan will not be able to leave the facility. This deal comes after Lohan’s misdemeanor car crash case. The 26-year-old actress pleaded no contest to reckless driving, lying to police, and obstructing two officers who were investigating the accident involving the actress in June. She also violated her probation in 2011.

A wildfire blazed through a resort area outside of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park in eastern Tennessee. The fire damaged and destroyed more than 60 rental cabins and homes in the area. The 160-acre fire was reported around 5 p.m. Sunday. The fire was thought to be contained Monday morning, but breached containment and spread threatening 15-20 additional homes. About 150-200 people were evacuated, but no injuries were reported. Officials have not said what caused the fire.
