Rupert Grint, the British actor better know for his role of Ron Weasley in the “Harry Potter” films, recently starred in a film with Shia LaBeouf. The movie, called “The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman”, was one of the competitors at this year’s Berlin Film Festival. Grint plays a drug-addled traveler. He said it was nice to play a different character.

More than 100 people were killed in South Sudan after one tribe attacked another on Sunday. One of the tribes was herding cattle in a region prone to violence, Akobo County. Kuol Manyang Juuk, the governor of Jonglei state, said at least 103 people died in the clash. He said 17 of the attackers were killed as well as 14 troops in the South Sudan military who were helping the cattle-moving tribe. (Read full story here.)

The comedy starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, “Identity Thief,” debuted at No. 1 Friday. The film brought in $36.6 million on its opening weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday. (Read full story here.)

European Union leaders agreed Friday to reduce the 7-year budget worth 960 billion euros, or $1.28 trillion. This is the first spending cut in the union’s history. The reason for the cut was due to poor economic growth occurring in several of the 27 nations in the union.

At the British Academy Film Awards Ben Affleck was named best director Saturday for his film “Argo”, based on the true story of the rescue of six U.S. diplomats during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.
