Kent City Council to meet tonight
January 16, 2013
Kent City Council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. to vote on conditions of the approved lease between Crooked River Adventures and John Brown Tannery Park, along with other mandates, according to the city council agenda. Crooked River Adventures is operated by Kent State’s recreational services and offers kayaking and canoeing trips along the Cuyahoga River, as well as biking and tubing options.
According to the city council agenda, Kent will continue to utilize Tannery Park as base for Crooked River Adventures if the motion is passed for the period of Apr. 1 through Oct. 31. Crooked River Adventures will pay $150 monthly for rent, $100 monthly for electric, and five percent of the total gross revenue.
If approved, this upcoming season Crooked River will celebrate its third year of operation.
Also to be discussed at the meeting is a mandate for changes in public parking as part of the redevelopment of downtown Kent. The plans to revamp Kent were first approved in August of 2010.
Most of the developments are completed, but about a half of the reconstruction is still underway.
