Evans named MAC East Player of the Week again
December 4, 2012
It’s deja vu for Kent State basketball fans.
Another week, and another honor for Chris Evans.
The Kent State senior forward was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week Tuesday after averaging 21 points, nine rebounds and 2.5 assists in two games last week.
Evans scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Flashes to an 85-78 overtime victory at Youngstown State last week.
An 18-point, eight-rebound performance wasn’t enough to push the Flashes to a home victory over Princeton on Saturday, but it was sufficient for the MAC to honor Evans for the third time in four weeks.
Evans leads Kent State in scoring (18.1 points per game), rebounding (7.6 per game), assists (2.0 per game), steals (2.5 per game), blocked shots (0.8 per game) and field goal percentage (54.9 percent).
The honor is the fourth in Evans’ Kent State career.
