The Kent State Men’s and Women’s Choruses will perform their first concert of the semester at 7 p.m. Friday in the University Auditorium at Cartwright Hall.

Women’s chorus director Dawn Wagner-Casey said each chorus will sing 28 minutes of music, featuring romantic, baroque, spiritual and contemporary types of music. The choruses have been practicing since the first week of classes.

“We really feel that we have something [in] the concert that will interest everyone,” Casey said.

The Men’s Chorus will perform “Freedom Come” by Ben Allway, “In Taberna” from “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff and more. The Women’s Chorus will perform “Hotaru Koi” by Ro Ogura, “Surrexit Pastor Bonus” by Felix Mendelssohn and “Wana Baraka,” a traditional Kenyan song.

After the concert, the Kent Chorus ensemble will join the Men’s and Women’s Choruses Dec. 2 to spread holiday cheer with “A Ceremony of Carols” in the University Auditorium.

Tickets for all full-time, undergraduate students are free. Tickets for adults are $8 and $5 for seniors.
