Kent State Stark Campus will host its fall festival 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The festival, called “Boo U,” is a family friendly event aimed at elementary school students and younger.

The event covers nearly the entire campus, starting at the main student lot where trick-or-treating begins, to the back of campus at the walkway around the pond. Student organizations will hand out candy at different locations on campus. Each student group has a different theme at its candy station.

“Boo U gives children the opportunity to trick-or-treat at night,” public relations coordinator Cynthia Williams said. “We provide children a safe environment to do this.”

Children can also take part in storytelling in the Campus Center and a coloring contest to win a backpack full of prizes. Students and staff will decorate the campus for the event.

Williams said about 1,000 people visited the Stark campus during last year’s festival, and she expects the same turnout this year.

“Every year is pretty much a hit,” Williams said. “It’s a widespread, free event, where kids can get goodies in the process. All in all it’s a true experience of trick-or-treating at night.”
