Faculty Senate to elect and nominate officers at first meeting
September 8, 2012
Faculty Senate will host its first meeting of the academic year Monday in the Governance Chambers of the Student Center.
Faculty Senate Chair Paul Farrell said Kent State President Lester Lefton will give his remarks about the school year at the beginning of the meeting.
Members will elect a representative and alternate to the Ohio Faculty Council, a council of faculty senate members from all 14 Ohio public colleges and universities, and two senators and alternates to the Faculty Ethics Committee, Farrell said. The senate will also elect one senator and one non-senator as well as alternates to the Committee on Administrative Officers.
Executive Committee Secretary Vanessa Earp said the senate will also nominate senators for the Faculty Senate Budget Advisory Committee.
Earp said the elections will occur during the meetings with Office Secretary of Faculty Senate Tess Kail and herself counting the ballots and announcing the winners.
Farrell said the meeting will continue with discussion about changes to how the university regards the administration of student conduct.
