It will be a very busy weekend for the Kent State volleyball team as they host the fifth annual Kent State Mizuno Classic.

This will also mark the first home games for the Flashes this season. They kick off the tournament with Liberty at 5 p.m. Friday. The team hosts two games Saturday — St. Francis at 10:30 a.m. and Marshall at 5 p.m. in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.

Going into this weekend, the team currently holds a 2-4 record, as they went 1-2 during the Hyatt Place Fort Wayne/IPFW Invitational with one win against Murray State.

The Flashes dropped two of three again at the NC State Courtyard Midtown Invitational with their lone win coming against South Florida.

This will be the third consecutive week the Flashes will have played three games in a two-day span.

The home opener will also be the home debut of new head coach Don Gromala, who was previously an assistant coach at Iowa State University, Ohio University and most recently an assistant coach at Ohio State University.

Along with his coaching experience, Gromala played college volleyball at Iowa State University.

The Flashes will be back on the road next weekend when they travel to Indianapolis for the Butler Invitational.
