President Barack Obama’s Budget Control Act, passed back in 2011, is designed to cut government spending by 10 percent across multiple departments, including, the defense department.

Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan says these cuts will impact not just the defense budget, but veteran benefits, as well as something closer to home.

Kent State ROTC teacher and Military veteran, Tim Andrews says that these cuts will also affect students as well.

From here at Kent State, to the 14th district in Youngstown, and all across the country the Budget Control act is causing a big stir among veterans, and republicans. But, some big name Republican’s supported the bill.

America also has the largest defense budget in the world, greater than China, Russia, and The United Kingdom’s budget combined.

Military veteran Paul Worley is against cutting defense benefits, but sees a simpler answer to the problem, outside of political affiliation.
