A new trustee has been appointed to Kent State’s Board of Trustees, according to a university press release.

Gov. John Kasich appointed Ralph M. Della Ratta Jr. to serve on Kent State’s Board of Trustees, the press release said.

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of Kent State, with such responsibilities as appointing the president, setting the university budget, approving personnel, awarding degrees and establishing tuition and fees, among other things, the press release said.

Della Ratta’s appointment lasts from July 13, 2012, to May 16, 2021.

He replaces Patrick S. Mullin as trustee. Mullin’s term as trustee expired in May.

Della Ratta is the founder and managing partner of Western Reserve Partners LLC, a Cleveland market investment bank.

He graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts and from Thunderbird School of Global Management with a Master of Business Administration.

Kent State’s Board of Trustees has 12 members, nine of whom have voting power.
