Porthouse Theatre offers audition prep classes
June 26, 2012
Each summer, Porthouse Theatre offers a variety of courses to high school and college students who wish to acclimate themselves to Kent State University’s Musical Theatre program.
The high school session began June 19. Students receive coaching on knowledge and skills necessary to auditioning for the Kent BFA program.
The college session begins July 10.
Students may take three classes, each one credit hour, in Musical Theatre Dance, Voice and Ensemble Singing and Acting and Monologue Preparation.
“I have absolutely no regrets for attending the Porthouse Theatre Academy last summer,” said Kevin Lauver, sophomore theatre studies major.
In addition to courses, students also attend rehearsals for the upcoming Porthouse show, and are given the chance to understudy or take small walk-on roles in the production.
